BSA Online Training Center | my.scouting.org #1 - Youth Protection Training (YPT)All adults, 18+, staying overnight in connection with a Scouting activity must be currently registered in an adult fee required position as listed or as an adult program participant. All leaders must repeat this training annually in order to recharter. Adults accompanying units on activities who are present at the activity for 72 hours or more, must also take Youth Protection Training. #2 -California Assembly Bill 506 WLACC – California ScoutingCalifornia Assembly Bill 506 (AB 506) was passed by the State of California requiring volunteers and staff of Youth Service Organizations to complete training in child abuse and neglect reporting, and undergo Live Scan background checks. Volunteers should complete the steps outlined on the website : *Training video, upload certificate to the website * Print, sign and upload Background consent form. *Complete Live Scan fingerprinting (form can be downloaded from link) #4 - The following positions must then complete position specific training here Program Details Screen - BSA Learn Center (scouting.org) * Merit Badge Counselor * Scoutmaster or Assistant *Committee Chair *Troop Committee #6 - Scoutmaster or Assistant must complete IOLS training. To safely offer Scouting’s outdoor program, however, you need a certain set of skills and knowledge – and that’s why you’re required to take Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (also known as “IOLS”) Training. You’ll learn how to build a fire, use an axe, cook outdoors, use a map and compass, responsibly care for the outdoors, and much more.This training is a weekend overnight experience.
